I remember hearing about roller derby and seeing old footage when I was younger, but apparently it's back with a vengeance; you can even go to Austin these days and see the phenomenon that this movie is based on.

Whip It is a little story about a girl outside of Austin who finds her escape from the small town blues in the big hits of roller derby. If it sounds fun, it is; Ellen Page and some other big time stars put in great performances in this film. One of those performances is by the derby coach and the only Wilson brother most of us haven't heard of, but there's no mistaking the voice.

This is a really funny film that will have you checking out roller derby websites for a chance to go back in time and have some fun in the near future. 3 paws
