The forecast calls for temperatures in the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies on this Saturday, April 10. It’s perfect weather for spring cleaning, and KBB and the City of Blanco are holding the 11th annual Blanco Trash Off and fourth annual River Clean Up on that day. You can help keep Blanco beautiful by cleaning up your yard, garage, carport, and property.

The day begins at 8:00am when the gates open at the city yard on Jones Ave. Every city resident is invited to load up their trailers and pickup trucks with trash, recyclables, old appliances, TVs, lawn mowers, furniture, and yard waste and drop it off in the yard. Tires, paint, batteries, and other things harmful to the environment won’t be accepted (but a Hazardous Waste Day will be held on April 24).

If you’re unable to get your discarded items to the yard, call City Hall at 830-833-4525 and ask to be added to the pickup list. Volunteers will stop at your house on Saturday and load up your items.

At 9:00am, volunteers will meet at Bindseil Park on the square to get their t-shirts and prepare for picking up trash around the city and along the Blanco River. To sign up before Saturday, call Retta Martin at 830-833-4270.

The entire event wraps up at noon, so don’t delay on cleaning up.

More volunteers are always needed. It takes everyone to keep the city clean and beautiful. Every year, hundreds of pounds of trash are picked up from along roadsides, easements, and riverbanks. KBB and the City encourage everyone to participate, and it shouldn’t be too difficult on what we hope will be a beautiful day.
