Engagement Told
April 3, 1970
Sgt. Major and Mrs. Lester Tolliver of Killeen announce the engagement of their daughter, Carol Gay, to Stanley E. Morgan Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley E. Morgan of Blanco.
Miss Tolliver is a senior at Southwest Texas State University, majoring in Elementary Education. Stan Morgan is currently stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Kansas.
A September wedding is planned.
Express Thanks to Red Cross Workers
April 7, 1961
Mrs. Ruby Poenisch this week expressed her thanks to those people who assisted her in collecting Red Cross money from the residential section of town.
The committee working was composed of Susan Byars, Mrs. Leroy Olfers, Cal Jean Ellison, and Randy Hohenberger. Also thanks was expressed to the Rev. Chas H. Simpson, chairman of the Red Cross drive.
Mrs. Poenisch also thanked all those who made donations which totaled $49.22.
Nabers to Show
April 4, 1980
Kerrville – The Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair, to be held May 24-25-26, in Kerrville, annually features the work of over 200 carefully juried artists. Blanco metal smith Bill Nabers has been selected for the official Texas event, affectionately known as “State” among the artists and craftspeople.
Nabers will be displaying his jewelry although he also works in metal craft and woodwork. He as 28 years of experience in his field, including 20 years of teaching arts and crafts, and industrial arts. He works in silver, gold, copper, brass and bronze, primarily in jewelry.
Band Uniform Drive Still On

The Blanco High School Band wishes to thank all those who have so generously donated to the uniform fund drive. The effort has been very successful but we still need your support to put this drive over the top.

Blanco HD Club
April 7, 1961
The Blanco HD Club met at the home of Mrs. P.T. Brigham with Mrs. Mamie Galbreath as co-hostess.
In the absence of the president, Mrs. Dodgen, vice-president, took charge. The meeting opened with recitation of the Club Creed. Roll call showed 2 members absent. There was no special program and Mrs. Moore was not present.
Mrs. Byler conducted an amusing and instructive contest.
A request was made to send an Easter present of cookies to the State Home for Boys in Austin. Mrs. Newton agreed to attend to the mailing of same.
Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses. The meeting was dismissed with a prayer.
Blanco Ladies Aid Hospital
April 4, 1980
Kerrville – The annual spring “Hat and Tie Bar” for the Kerrville State Hospital patients, sponsored by the Volunteers Service Council, was March 26 in the Patricia Ernst Building on the hospital campus.
This event was planned by Chairman Bess Wiggins and her co-chairman, Helen Niehaus, Ella Unnasch and Norman Yates. They were assisted by volunteers from Blanco, Fredericksburg, and Kerrville.
Those from Blanco helping were – Dorothy Schneider, Christa Roberts, Rowena Voges, Blye Dollahite, Norma Krause, Tonie Moelenberg, Irmgard Weber and Louise Bindseil.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Doebbler were the volunteers from Fredericksburg.
