Gentle readers,

This has been a sad/joyful week or two... we had a glorious Easter, but we also lost a wonderful gentleman by the name of Glen Barnard on Wednesday.

Glen could play the saw like anything! and my favorite memory of him will always be at the Relay for Life talent show a few years ago, when he and his wife Ruby played Adam and Eve to Darlene Kiernan’s Dr. Loony Lil, the marriage counselor - I don’t think I have laughed so hard and so long in quite a while. He sure will be missed by lots of people, including me...

Another joyous piece of news - From Austin, Jewell Scott is happy to announce the arrival of her third great-grandchild, Garrett Christopher Scott, on March 19, 2010.

Proud parents are Chris and Stephanie Scott. Paternal grandparents are Fred Scott and Pamela Scott, both of Austin. Maternal grandparents are Fran Swilling and Ken Swilling, both of Fort Smith, AR.

Sister Addison is well pleased with her little brother and has everything under control.

It’s time for me to call in all my friends and neighbors and start haranguing them about volunteering for the Lavender Festival in the water/soda tent.

Suzette and Jimmy Connell have been in charge of it the past couple years and now it is my turn, so expect me to start nagging about needing volunteers! Be prepared!

Don’t forget the “Trash-Off” and the Fish Fry on Saturday - just plan to spend the whole day in town - it will be worth it!

On March 30, residents at Live Oak Nursing Home enjoyed coloring Easter eggs for our Easter social and party on Thursday, April 1.

Thursday we all gathered in the dining room and enjoyed cookies shaped like Easter eggs and punch.

Also residents got to pick out one or two dyed eggs to eat while activities Director Pauline Walker passed out gifts of bags of Easter candy tied with a stuffed pet to residents.

These were from our local Yucca Garden Club.

Thank you all for these gifts everyone got such enjoyment receiving them.
