Chamber Welcomes New Facilitator for Leadership Program
Wednesday, April 7, 2010 • Posted April 6, 2010

Ola Armstrong (GVTC Foundation Board President) founded The Bulverde/Spring Branch Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program four years ago and has been the lead facilitator from the beginning.

The program, consisting of one class per month for nine months, has been highly successful in providing skills and information for the participants to become more effective community members.

Ola is retiring from GVTC and is stepping down as facilitator of the Leadership Program at the end of the current class.

Marty Chrisman with Realty World First Choice will be taking over beginning in the fall. “We wish Ola all the best,” said Kathleen Banse, Chamber President “and know Marty will be a great ‘leader of leaders’.”

The Leadership Program’s current class is graduating in May. Each class selects a project to benefit the chamber, businesses, community, etc.

This class chose to hold a raffle to raise money for scholarships for the leadership classes. GVTC donated the raffle prize: four lower level San Antonio Spurs tickets for the Spurs vs. the Cavaliers, March 26th, to include a parking pass.

The lucky winner, selected at the Chamber Mixer March 25th, was Jim Jones with HBI.

The Leadership raffle generated $1,160 for scholarships for future Leadership classes. In honor of the founder, it has been named the “Ola Armstrong Scholarship Fund.”

A reunion for the all attendees of the leadership classes will be held on April 7th to congratulate the Class 4 graduates, welcome Marty Chrisman as lead facilitator and to say farewell to Ola Armstrong.

Anyone interested in attending the next Bulverde/Spring Branch Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program beginning in September should contact the Chamber office for more information. 830-438-4285.
