Arts Fest on Wimberley Square Adds Artists and Musicians

Arts Fest 2010 will be an extraordinary celebration of Arts with an S in beautiful Wimberley. Almost one year in planning, the event is scheduled Saturday April 24, 2010 from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm on the square in the center of town, rain or shine.

Now exhibiting 67 artists, representing Wimberley Valley Art League, sponsor of Arts Fest, and additional invited area leagues. Artwork includes painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, artist demonstrations, more.

Announcing musical headliners Jon Dee Graham, Kevin Willis with guest Fats Kaplan, Billy Crockett and Friends1 There will be music all day, all around the Fest by a full roster of Wimberley’s musical talent.

The Starlight Symphony Orchestra will present an afternoon mini-concert behind Cypress Creek Café. If you haven’t heard them, now’s a great chance.

Other attractions include: Wimberley Players present strolling thespians on the Square, then the comedy “Virtual Devotion” at 8 pm at the Wimberley Playhouse, 450 Old Kyle Road.; children’s art fun focuses on creative activities, plus storytellers at the pavilion at Nature Trail entrance on Old Kyle Road.

Parents must accompany children; Rotary Club Silent Auction of artwork donated by Wimberley artists to benefit local non-profits; and Art of the Car is a display of classic beauties just a few steps down Old Kyle Road from the square.

There will be no parking in the Square for Arts Fest, pedestrians rule! RR 12 will remain open. Free parking at Community Center on RR 12, and at former First Baptist Church and Wimberley Playhouse on Old Kyle Rd.

Free shuttle service to and from the Square. Golf cats circling the Fest all day, hop on, hop off.
