Healthy Living Conference To Be Held April 16 in Fredericksburg

The eighth annual “Healthy Living—Hill country Style!” conference will be April 16th from 8:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. at the fellowship hall of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

The seminar includes lunch catered by Andy’s Steak and Seafood Grille and a keynote address by Inspirational Speaker, Kim Auer on how to enjoy life every day.

Registration begins at 8:30 with exhibits and screenings until noon. Topics for breakout sessions include:

Seven Step Energy Challenge – Dr. Kerri Carperter (Comfort Chiropractic) - If you are tired or can hardly get through the day, learn how portioned eating, water intake, rest, stress reduction, and stretching can give you more energy.

Volunteering in our Community- Becky Walch (Good Samaritan Center Clinical Director) Fredericksburg and other local communities are looking for volunteers to provide critical services. A variety of local groups will be describing the types of jobs available.

What immunizations do adults need? - Marie Brown R.N. (Kendall County Public Health Nurse) After grade school, most people forget about immunizations. Come and learn what immunizations adults need for health and for travel.

Just what the doctor ordered – Dr. Michael Codiga (Internal Medicine) – Sit down with Dr. Codiga and learn ways to live to your maximum health potential.

Tai Chi – Carolyn Dubose – You will learn the general principles of Tai Chi and work on several of the steps that can be used as moving meditations.

Aging beautifully through skin care – Debbie Klenzing (cosmetic manager for HEB) Do you get lost on the skin care aisle or need to update your makeup drawer?

Debbie will guide you through skin care necessities, sunscreen and beauty tips for aging beautifully.

Health Benefits of massage therapy – LaLetta Johnson (HCMH Wellness Center) – Massage therapy can promote well-nourished and healthy skin, improve energy flow, circulation, mobility and the immune system and relax muscles.

You’ll learn the different styles of massage and which is best for you.

Exhibitors will also be on hand to offer information, products and screenings. Booths will include: Fredericksburg Medical Equipment, Comfort Chiropractic, Evergreen Villa, Health, Hope & Healing Cancer Resource Center/HCMHS Breast Center, Hill Country Memorial Hospice & Home Health Care, Isagenix International, HCMH Sleep Lab, and booths from your event hosts. Screenings on Balance, Posture, and blood pressure will also be available.

Early registration is $15 and is due by April 9th. You may still register at the door for $25, which includes lunch. For more information or to make reservations, call the Texas AgriLife Extension Service at 997-3452.
