Generous Donation Supports Blanco County Cat Coalition Community Service
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 • Posted April 13, 2010

Blanco County, TX – A bighearted donation to the Blanco County Cat Coalition (BCCC) from one of our neighbors has made it possible to extend $25.00 spay/neuter vouchers into the month of May. This donation could not come at a better time, considering that a rabid fox has been sighted in the county. Responsible cat owners who use a BCCC voucher to defray some of the costs of spaying or neutering also protect their cats from rabies, since rabies shots are mandatory when a cat is treated at a veterinary clinic.

Cat owners need to make appointments with their regular veterinarians for the spaying of their female cats or the neutering of their male cats, then take the cats to the clinic and pick them up when the surgery is over. The BCCC will reimburse the veterinarians $25.00 for each cat that has a voucher. Call the Cat Phone at 512-318-5875 to request a voucher.

Donations are the only money that the BCCC receives to maintain its community service work. The Coalition will have a booth at the upcoming Johnson City Wildflower Day on Saturday, April 16. Please stop by to talk with BCCC volunteers about how you might become involved with the BCCC or to donate whatever you can spare. Any amount is greatly appreciated. It has been said that a society is to be judged by how it treats its weakest members. The BCCC works daily to help some of the weakest animals in our county that are most in need: abandoned feral cats.

The next Blanco County Cat Coalition meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 4, at 6:00pm in the Johnson City Library. Everyone is welcome.

BCCC is a tax-exempt, 501-c-3, volunteer-based organization that supports the humane way of dealing with feral cats: Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Donations and volunteers are needed and appreciated. Volunteer opportunities are varied and interesting. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month, alternating between Blanco and Johnson City. All are welcome to attend.

Call the Cat Phone at 512-318-5875 or visit the BCCC web site, www.blancocountycat.org, for further information.
