Retired Educators to Meet April 29
Wednesday, April 21, 2010 • Posted April 20, 2010

The Blanco County Association of Retired Educators, also known as BCARE, will hold the fourth meeting since it was newly organized on Thursday, April 29, at The First Baptist Church in Johnson City at 2:30pm.

The parent organization, TRTA, has grown to 70,000 members. TRTA uses its collective voice to advocate for retired educational personnel. Our local unit, the Blanco County Association of Retired Educators, has a membership of fifty at this time and serves to inform and educate members about their retirement benefits.

The April 29 program will consist of a first-hand report on the recent TRTA State Convention by local member delegates Mary Ann and Ernest Hoffman.

The same slate of officers and committee chairs that provided our leadership during this organization’s first year would continue to serve in the coming year, having been elected to a two-year term.

The District XIII Training for Officers and Committee Chairs will be held at the First Christian Church in San Marcos (3105 Ranch Road 12) from 9:30 – 1:30 on Friday, May 7. This will serve as our fifth and final meeting of the 2009-2010 school year.

Those who are interested may bring canned goods or non-perishable food items to donate to the Johnson City Food Bank. This ongoing type of donation alternately benefits the food pantries of the two Blanco County towns. Donations from the January meeting benefited The Good Samaritan Center of Blanco.
