So, You Want to Know God?
Wednesday, April 21, 2010 • Posted April 20, 2010

Well, first you must know Jesus! Jesus said “ 30"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.” Matthew 12:30

It is written in Matthew 11:17-27 “ 25 At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. 26 Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way!

27 “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

Verse 27 above literally says no one can truly know God the Father unless Jesus chooses to reveal Him to us. So, we need to know Jesus first.

I looked up “Jesus” in the back of my bible and in my bible dictionary, and there are a lot of references to study. I followed references and found out what is pleasing to God, and what’s not. It’s a lifelong study; one that each of us needs to do. The more time we give to God, the more He gives to us!

Jesus said that our words will acquit us or condemn us, and we will be judged by every idle word, and our actions determine what we receive on earth, as well as whether or not we will be received into heaven. We can't get there just by works, our heart needs to be right and we need to believe in Jesus as our risen Lord. It’s not just through belief, because James said “even the demons believe and tremble!”

James 2:8-13 "8If indeed you [really] fulfill the royal Law in accordance with the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as [you love] yourself, you do well.

9But if you show servile regard (prejudice, favoritism) for people, you commit sin and are rebuked and convicted by the Law as violators and offenders.

10For whosoever keeps the Law [as a] whole but stumbles and offends in one [single instance] has become guilty of [breaking] all of it.

11For He Who said, You shall not commit adultery, also said, You shall not kill. If you do not commit adultery but do kill, you have become guilty of transgressing the [whole] Law.

12So speak and so act as [people should] who are to be judged under the law of liberty [the moral instruction given by Christ, especially about love].

13For to him who has shown no mercy the judgment [will be] merciless, but mercy [full of glad confidence] exults victoriously over judgment."

He also said “7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” Matthew 5:7

Our actions to each other, and the problems presented to us daily, are opportunities to plant seeds of love which will bring us a harvest of God’s blessings, because according to His spiritual law, He won’t bless us unless we bless others here on earth. While we are alive we can plant our garden. Obedience to God’s Word, which is loving Him, and loving others will ensure God’s rewards. Blessings will begin to come to us, because the Lord will send them through other people.

Jesus said “33"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:33-37 NLT

Jesus said “3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:3-4

He also said “6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9"This, then, is how you should pray:

" 'Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10your kingdom come,

your will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

11Give us today our daily bread.

12Forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.' 14For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Take note that He said if you don’t forgive men their sins against you, your Father won’t forgive your sins!
