Jewish Perspective: Jews Killed Jesus! America is Doomed!
Wednesday, April 28, 2010 • Posted April 27, 2010

I’m always intrigued by fliers that combine religious zealotry with politics. What happens at times is fascinating, especially when you try to follow their line of thinking - that is, if you want to apply logical thinking. Here’s an example of a flier that my Jewish mentor sent me when I was still in Iowa; he got it through his synagogue in Upstate New York somehow:

Headline: WBC to Picket the Unbelieving Jews in Des Moines, IA

Jews Killed Jesus! Most of the Jews are filthy, lawless, disobedient, rebellious, self-worshipping brutes who won’t repent. It is on you that the perverse Iowans are now marrying [gays]. Where was your voice of opposition? See Romans 3:1-4. Where was your zealous work and testimony for God, your effective and fervent voice of opposition? You want [gays] to marry, because you are cursed of God and cannot do anything but take pleasure in them that do this grievous sin against God (Romans 1:32).

Please note: These words and this message are something I vehemently disagree with. This flier was distributed by a mainline church denomination and their aim was obviously intended to blast Jews, gay people, and others who disagree with their doctrine, which appears filled with hate speech. The date of the flier was Friday, May 1, 2009. As I look at the flier again one year later, I am inclined to see what kind of luck they had in rousing their followers to protest the Jewish Federation of Greater Des Moines and three synagogues in the Des Moines Metro Area.

Something tells me that America will continue on as she has for over 200 years, regardless of what these fear-filled people have to say about the matter.
