Cub Scouts Hold Rain Gutter Regatta
Wednesday, April 28, 2010 • Posted April 27, 2010

On Sunday, April 25, at the Blanco Elementary School Cafeteria, the Blanco Cub Scout Pack 497 had their first ever Rain Gutter Regatta. The boys themselves built the boats they used and were the source of energy for the boats as well. Each boy had to blow the boat from one end of the gutter to the other end. The race was set up as a double elimination-type race. The boys demonstrated good sportsmanship as well as self-determination and good manners.

Ten boys participated, and they all had a great time. We would like to express our gratitude to Lewis and Cheryl Eckenrode of T&E Services of Johnson City for donating the rain gutters. These rain gutters will be used for many years to come. We appreciate all who helped set up and clean up after the race and to all our judges.
