Wednesday, May 19, 2010 • Posted May 18, 2010

The Junior Rodeo was held on May 7 at Yett Park’s rodeo grounds and was open to kids in Blanco County ranging in ages from 8 to 18. The Junior Rodeo was held in conjunction with the Association’s Tiny West Memorial Bull Riding on May 8. Events included mutton bustin’, steer riding, barrel racing, and pole bending, as well as break-away roping and goat tying. All-around buckles were awarded to the high point winners in each division; a buckle was also given to the winner of the mutton bustin.’

Many volunteers from the rodeo association and sponsors from the community were involved in making this year’s event a success.

This year’s sponsors included, Blanco Regional Clinic, Happy Trails Metal Craft, Threshold My Favorite Things, TNT Farms, Countywide Title, Ken Olfers Drywall, Patti, Megan and Austin Andrews, CG Leather Works, Bulverde Feed & Seed, and Toby Gourley. Other contributors to the event were Travis P. Gourley and Linda Anderson, who donated stock and time to the event; local rodeo announcing legend Shane Anderson donated his time and comedic skills.

“We were happy with the event, and hope it grows. All the kids involved did their best and through them the rodeo tradition lives on and will continue in Blanco County, which is one of the goals of the Blanco Rodeo Association,” said Association President Darrell West.

If you would like to get involved with the Blanco Rodeo Association and the events it puts on throughout the year, a membership drive and barbeque will be held on June 20, 2010.
