For the 10th consecutive year, the Blanco FFA Chapter was recognized as the Hill District FFA Association’s Leadership and Career Development Events Sweepstakes Award winners for the 2009-10 school year. The Blanco FFA was recognized at the annual Hill District FFA Banquet held in Comfort on Thursday, May 6. For the year, Blanco FFA won 10 different district championships, while qualifying 13 teams for area and 7 teams for state.

In addition to winning the district sweepstakes awards, the Blanco FFA was also recognized for several other accomplishments at this year’s banquet. Sophomore Alex Gustafson was elected the Hill District FFA Association Treasurer for the 2010-11 while freshman Callie Culton will be representing the local chapter and the district at the upcoming Area VII Convention competing in the junior prepared public speaking contest after placing 2nd at district. Also competing and placing on the district level were Kellam Nabers, 3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking and Sam Isenberg, 4th in senior prepared public speaking.
