Champion Baseball Team Plays in 1st Tournament of the Season

Champion Baseball Team played in their first tournament this season on May 1 and 2. These young men have had several rainout tournaments and were ready to finally compete.

The Champion Baseball team played in the Austin Select Baseball tournament Battle at the Capital II, which was played in Manchaca on Saturday. Champion Baseball played the Centex Diamondbacks with a win of 10-6. The next game was against the Texas Terror from LaVernia and Champion Baseball was defeated in the 3rd inning 0-13.

On Sunday traveling back to Manchaca for an 8:00 game, team Champion played the Tejanos Blue for another win 10-8. With this win Champion Baseball was now in the top 4 of the tournament, traveling to Dripping Springs for the final brackets.

Champion Baseball was up against HC Hurricanes; the first scoring came in the top of the 5th inning by Champion baseball who brought in 2 runs. In the 6th inning Champion added another 3 runs, the Hurricanes scored one run and in the 7th Champion adding the final run for a final score 6-1. This win put Champion Baseball in the finals.

Once again on the diamond meeting for the second time in this tournament was team Texas Terror and Champion Baseball. Champion Baseball was down 0-8 in the 4th inning and started to focus on the fundamentals of baseball. Champion Baseball scored 6 runs in the 5th inning, holding Texas Terror to a scoreless inning. Champion came with another 6 run inning in the 6th and continued to play strong defense with 4 Texas Terror players up and 3 down. The score was now Champion Baseball 12 – 8, with one inning to play Champion added 2 more runs, and with the Texas Terror having last at bat for the win. Champion Baseball dominated with 3 up and 3 down to end the game. With the final score 14-8 Champion Baseball placed 1st in their first tournament of the season.

This fine talented team of players are from Blanco, Johnson City, Kingsland, and Wimberley.
