6th Lavender Festival Deemed Huge Success
Wednesday, June 23, 2010 • Posted June 22, 2010

Blanco, the Lavender Capital of Texas, successfully celebrated all things lavender a couple weeks ago with a huge crowd of Blanco residents and visitors from all across Texas, during the 6th Annual Blanco Lavender Festival on the grounds of the Old Blanco County Courthouse. The event is sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture's Go Texan program -- "taking Texas bragging rights to new heights" by "promoting products, culture and communities that call Texas home."

Blanco Chamber Executive Director Penny Thomas said the organizing team is still pulling together the final numbers, but stated that "it's obvious that this year's Lavender Festival was an even bigger hit than in years past, based on attendance, vendor sales and participation at the speakers pavilion and the lavender farm events."

It takes a lot of volunteers to make the event successful, and Thomas is grateful for the wonderful crew that helped with set up, event staffing, clean up and all the tasks that made the event run smoothly.

"As a thank you, the Blanco Chamber of Commerce will host a Volunteer Happy Hour on Friday, June 25, from 4:30-6:00pm at the Chamber office," Thomas said. "The Chamber appreciates everyone who volunteered for this wonderful celebration of all things lavender."
