Wednesday, June 23, 2010 • Posted June 22, 2010

Boerne, TX— Jennings Anderson Ford and Ford Motor Company awarded 2010 Blanco High School graduate Taylor McCormick a $1,000 scholarship through the Built Ford Tough Trucks/FFA Scholarship Program. McCormick plans to study Biochemistry at The University of Texas. McCormick’s parents are Tolley and Monica McCormick of Blanco.

Jennings Anderson Ford has sponsored the scholarship program for the last ten years, and is proud to be involved in helping students living in the Hill Country reach their education goals. Local Future Farmers of America (FFA) members who were high school seniors at Boerne High School, Comfort High School, Bandera High School, Centerpoint High School, Tivy High School, Fredericksburg High School, or Blanco High School who are planning on attending college in the 2010-2011 school year were eligible.

“I am proud of Taylor—and all of the students who applied,” said Scott Wilson, Jennings Anderson Ford Dealer Principal. “Continuing education is a key component to success. It’s something we actively support at Jennings Anderson Ford; for our employees, their families and our community.”

The scholarship is one of 457 awarded by Ford Division, Ford Motor Company Fund and the Ford Dealers to FFA members who are high school seniors planning to attend college in the fall of 2010. The program is designed to recognize FFA members’ talents and accomplishments while encouraging their past and future academic achievements.

For 55 years Ford has supported FFA, and for more than 50 years, people all over America have been putting built Ford Tough Trucks to work. Ford knows the value of hard work, and believes that hard work should be rewarded. That’s why Ford has increased the Built Ford Tough Trucks/FFA Scholarship Fund each year since its inception. Educating aspiring young people to become the leaders of tomorrow is just another way of ensuring a successful future.

FFA is a national youth organization of over 506,199 student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture with approximately 7,429 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
