Lost in Praise!
Wednesday, May 7, 2008 • Posted May 6, 2008

The Mt. Horeb church congregation attended Center Union Missionary Baptist Church in Buda this past Sunday. Our church was on the program and “in charge” of the morning worship service, and our pastor gave a great sermon. Then we had lunch, and another church was on the program and were “in charge” of the afternoon service, and let me tell you, we praised God! Yes we did.

In the morning it was Lawrence and myself on guitars, with our church congregation as the choir, but in the afternoon, the other visiting church had a bass player, pianist, organist, drummer, a sax, and more on guitars, plus a whole choir dressed in red, and really, really good singers, and we sang and sang and cried and sang some more. It was great, and I got lost in praise and worship. A little taste of what it’s going to be like in heaven! You can’t plan a good worship experience, because it comes from the hearts of the people who are worshipping and singing, and it won’t ever be the same again! It’s just great to be a part of it.

I’d like to share David’s Song of Praise found in 2 Samuel chapter 22. Here are verses 47-51:

47 “The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock!

Exalted be God, the Rock, my Savior!

48 He is the God who avenges me,

who puts the nations under me,

49 who sets me free from my enemies.

You exalted me above my foes;

from violent men you rescued me.

50 Therefore I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations;

I will sing praises to your name.

51 He gives his king great victories;

he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed,

to David and his descendants forever.”

Psalm 107:1-2 – “ 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!

His faithful love endures forever.

2 Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out!

Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.”

I must “speak out” and share what God has done for me. My son was seriously injured 2 years ago, and God has healed him, and blessed him with a good county job, that has benefits, so he can support his wife and daughter. Praise God. God has His mighty hand on my other son in Colorado, and has victoriously brought him through a serious problem, also. Praise Him! God has healed me so I don’t have to take estrogen replacements anymore! Thank You Lord! He helps me in my job, and is keeping my husband’s health in order, so that he can take care of all his blessings, (and me)!

Verses 10-15 of Psalm 107 – “10 Some sat in darkness and deepest gloom,

imprisoned in iron chains of misery.

11 They rebelled against the words of God,

scorning the counsel of the Most High.

12 That is why he broke them with hard labor;

they fell, and no one was there to help them.

13 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble,

and he saved them from their distress.

14 He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom;

he snapped their chains.

15 Let them praise the Lord for his great love

and for the wonderful things he has done for them.”

God can “snap” your chains, if you turn to Him and say “Lord, help!” Look and see what the Lord has done for others, He will do also for you.

Paul said “4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4:4-7.

If you gave someone a gift and they didn’t thank you, would you give him another?

Thank God for bringing you out; for all things. He will keep on bringing you out, if you praise and thank Him.
