Fishing, Rafting, Insects, and Water Testing–All Part of River Days
Wednesday, May 7, 2008 • Posted May 6, 2008

On Thursday, May 1, the entire 6th grade class was able to go and visit our own Blanco State Park for River Days. The students were at the park from 8:30am-2:30pm, which was almost their entire school day. The kids took a sack lunch and had a picnic at the long tables available at the park.

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and the Blanco State Park provided the instructors for the day.

The students visited four instructional areas. They would rotate to each of the groups so by the end of the day everyone was enlightened about our Blanco River and related areas.

The topics taught were: Rafting safety, water testing and different levels of contamination, fishing safety, and animals/insects and their environment around the river.

From the photos, the students and their teachers appeared to all have a great time.
