This DVD along with others produced by the Oral History Committee, is now available for check out at the Blanco Library.

Laura Lindeman Caza and Charlene Lindeman Singleton recount growing up on the ranch their grandfather established in Blanco over 100 years ago.

They lived the life of typical farm girls, helping with the harvest, milking cows, observing “wash days” on Saturday, playing games with their three siblings after church on Sunday, and attending school in Blanco. They helped their parents deliver milk from their dairy to the school, homes, and the Bowling Alley Café. Family reunions were held at the Blanco State Park on the “long tables.”

They recall their family stopping after church to buy a 5 cent block of ice for iced tea at Sunday lunch and homemade ice cream in the afternoon. Their entertainment included games such as “Annie Over” and “Hide and Seek,” swimming in the river, swinging in trees, and horseback riding. “It was such a good life,” Charlene summed up.
