Duet. 4:5-9 says, “Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for? And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
The U.S. is a great nation, indeed; but it is only great because of the Godly and moral principles on which it was founded. Only by honoring God and our Constitution – and then teaching our sons and grandsons these principles – will we be able to remain the great nation we are. Many people believe it is too late, but I believe with God, all things are possible. Take, for instance, the book of Judges or Kings. Didn't God time and time again raise up a Godly person to save the nation and lead them into righteousness and blessing once again? Could God not do that again? Of course He could.
Some Christians need to stop cursing our country and standing aside to let the ungodly have their way. We have done that for too long. If some ungodly person tried to take your wife or children, would you just stand aside and say, “Well, it was bound to happen” or “Well, I guess I deserve this”. Hogwash. You would fight for them. You would defend them. Will you defend your nation from tyranny?
Our current leader has pronounced to the world in a speech that we are not a Christian nation. Will you stand up and say, “We are a Christian nation, in Jesus Name”? Ps 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Will you stand and say, “Our nation is blessed, because our God is the Lord!”? Remember, Christian, your words have tremendous power. Death and life are in your tongue. Prov. 11:11 says, “By the blessing of the righteous, the city is exalted”. The righteous need to bless our nation in word and deed. Then it will remain exalted. But the mouth of the wicked will overthrow our nation. Let's not get into agreement with the wicked. Say it with me: “We are exceptional. We are blessed by God. We are a Christian nation. We were founded by Godly men and on Godly principles.” Make that your confession.
We should not be ashamed to ask God's blessing (Ps 28:9). Do we deserve His blessing? Absolutely not. In all reality, we never have. There have been wicked people in America since the very beginning who have sought to overthrow and stop what God's people were doing. So it is today. However, there has also always been righteous, Christian, children of God who have sought to follow, obey, and honor God all of their days. We are the ones who ask God's blessing and grace – and God answers. We are the righteous, and we exalt the nation (Prov 14:34). We are the wise that turn away wrath (Prov 29:8, Eccl 9:14-18). We are the happy people, whose God is the Lord (Ps 144:15). Don't get into agreement with the mouth of the wicked! Christian, stand up! We are a chosen generation! A royal priesthood! A holy nation! A peculiar people! (1Pt 2:9).
There are volumes of historical documents that show the faith of our founding fathers. Here are just a few of hundreds of quotes: “I have examined all religions,...and the Bible is the best book in the world” - John Adams. “My hopes of a future life are all founded upon the Gospel of Christ” - John Quincy Adams. “I would make it (the Bible), in short, the Alpha and Omega of knowledge” - Elias Boudinot. “..the system of morals and His (Jesus) religion … (is) the best the world ever saw, or is likely to see” - Ben Franklin. “The Bible is a book worth more than all the books that were ever printed” - Patrick Henry. “The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the Word of God, and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next” - John Jay. “...to the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian” - George Washington. “The Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children under a free government ought to be instructed” - Noah Webster.
You know that bologna about us being a secular nation? I don't think so. Just in these few quotes, you start getting a very clear picture of what our founders believed in. And the faith of our Founding Fathers is what we need to believe. It is the Bible. It is the precepts of Jesus Christ. It is what all good government is founded on. So let's take some action steps in getting our country back on track.
1. Be about Kingdom business. Get right with God. Meditate on and pray over the Word of God every day. Know it and obey it. Be salt and light. Speak the truth in love. In short, be a Biblical Christian. 2. Educate yourself on Godly government and American history. Read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Read “The 5000 year leap”. Go to Wallbuilders.com and learn “original document” history. 3. Get involved. Register to vote. Research candidates. Put people in office that stand for Godly values and exalt the constitution. Support Godly candidates in prayer and finances. Maybe even ... run for office yourself! Let's take America back. Confess your sin and repent for letting heathen politicians have your nation. This is our nation. This is a Godly nation. This is a Christian nation. Fight for it - as our Christian Fathers did.
