Marilyn Lee Burke – von Steiger went home, July 5, 2010 at 1:30 A.M. from Blanco, TX.

Marilyn lived life to it’s fullest each day. She was an inspiration to the countless people she met on her life’s journey. Her love of music, horses, and roses, along with the compassion she had for family, friends and all the people she ever met will always be her legacy.

She was born in Galveston, TX, and grew up in Houston, TX. After 17 years of marriage to Walter Jost von Steiger. She became a widow at a young age and was left to raise 3 children. She worked very hard and did her best as a single mother.

Between 1975 and 1999, Marilyn lived in New Orleans, LA, Pasadena, TX, San Antonio, TX, and Austin TX. In 2000, she realized her dream of living in the country and settled on six beautiful acres on top of a hill near Blanco, TX. She felt blessed to be there and soon found she had wonderful neighbors who became her extended family. She enjoyed having friends and family come to her home all her life. She was social, had a quick wit with a sparkle in her eye. She always enjoyed a good joke or a sit down conversation. She looked forward each evening to sitting on her back porch saying her prayers while watching the sunset. Her trust in others was amazing. She will be missed by all.

Marilyn leaves behind adult children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with several in-laws, many close friends, three dogs and one cat.

A very special thank you is extended to her granddaughter Anna Southworth, whose devotion and loving care made Marilyn’s last few weeks much more comfortable along with the Hill Country Hospice and home health care.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make donations for the unanticipated expenses, please contact the family.

The viewing / memorial service will be held at Crofts Funeral Home, 911 Mesquite St., Blanco, TX 78606 on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 1:00 P.M.

After the service there will be a celebration of Marilyn’s life. Directions will be available at the service.
