This past month saw two Blanco Panthers take part in the Annual Valley-Hi Optimist All-Star Game in San Antonio on the campus of St. Mary’s University. Both Brooks Wyatt and John Pepper were members of the East All-Star team, which easily won the game against their West counterparts at V.J. Keefe Stadium. John went 1 for 3 in the game with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Brooks singled in each of his first two appearances, to finish the game 2 for 3, with two RBIs and two runs. Brooks also had a hand in the East’s only double play of the game.

This marks the 27th year the San Antonio Valley-Hi Optimist Club has sponsored this event, which showcases the top players from 1A to 5A schools in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Other Panthers who have participated in the past include: Garrett Granberg, AJ Mann, Juan Hernandez, Brett Connally, Pepe Mancha, Jacob Ashley, Shane Wilson, Ky McNett, Ryan Breeding, Ross McCormick, Justin Warner, and Lance Gottardy.
