Matthew 18:18 “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” KVJ
Same thing in Amplified version: “ 18Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.”
Why can’t some believe this? I do. I sure do. I loose disease and infirmities from my body, my kids’ bodies, my husband, my animals, and other people, too. I bind afflictions and cast them out, too, in the name of Jesus. It’s just a matter of speaking and believing, that’s all it is. Speaking what you believe, and believing in Jesus because He said it, and it is written. He spoke what is written, and it worked for Him! We speak what is written, because He told us to imitate Him, plus He gave us His authority to do so! We have His blessing to do this.
You know, it’s not hocus pocus to simply say with your mouth and believe in your heart that you believe in Jesus Christ as your risen Lord and Saviour, is it? I mean, that’s the basis of salvation, that all believers learn by reading and studying Romans 10:8, 9, and 10; “8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
So then this infers if you only say it with your mouth and don’t believe it, then you really won’t be saved, and won’t get into heaven, right? It is a twofold deal. Speak it, and also believe it. We have to believe it.
Likewise, we could say to a pain in our arm, “pain, you have to leave my body, in Jesus’ name”, and believe in our heart that because we loosed it on earth, it is already loosed in heaven, that the pain will leave us immediately. If we don’t believe it when we speak it, it won’t happen.
Jesus even taught us that we must believe, to receive. That’s in Matthew 21:22, and also in Mark 11:22-24. Oh, and remember the centurion in Matthew 8:5-13?
“And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.” Mt. 8:13
And what about the two blind men in Matthew 9:27-31? “28And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
29Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.” Mt. 9:28-29
In Mark 9:23 Jesus said “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” In the story of the man whose son had a dumb spirit in him, who had asked Jesus’ disciples to cure him and they could not, Jesus said it was the disciples’ unbelief that hindered their power.
And, when Jesus went back to His home country not very many people were healed because of their unbelief. He also said in Mark 9:29 that particular kind of spirit required prayer and fasting.
Remember the man who asked for healing and he said “Lord I believe, help my unbelief!~ I can’t find it right now to print it (but it’s a challenge for you to! Email me if you find it).
I recommend reading, speaking, and hearing God’s Word, because it is written that faith cometh by hearing God’s Word. We all need to keep our faith up, otherwise our shield of faith will get holes in it and the devil’s darts will go right through it! (Just like the dart Satan threw at Eve!)
In John 14:12 Jesus said “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
That pretty much tells me that my belief in Jesus and His Words spoken and written in my bible grant me permission to be able to loose and bind, as He told us in Matthew 18:18 above. And it’s not hocus pocus. It’s belief and speaking.
Our private prayers are powerful, because He taught us to pray in our prayer closet in Matthew 6:6 “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
I believe our greatest success rate comes from those secret prayers on bended knees, as Jesus also taught us in Luke 22:41-42 “And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”
James said “Ye have not, because ye ask not.” James 4:2
Jesus said “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?” Matthew 7:7-11
As for me, I’m ‘gonna be that relentless woman who went before the unjust judge, asking for justice, and that unbelieving judge gave in to her! Jesus used that example to teach us to keep on asking, and don’t give up. Don’t give up. Don’t give in to doubt. Just keep on believing and trusting in God’s Word, and in Jesus Christ who came to teach us and help us believe in Him by healing all those people.
I know I bring up these Scriptures often. It must be because we need to use them every day of our lives. Every day we have needs, and every day someone has a problem. We pray for people at our church every Sunday. We pray as a group and we ask God to bless particular people by name. We need assurance that God hears us and we can find that in God’s Word; and every day we need to thank Him for answered prayers.
He said “Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.” John 14:11
I believe! Thank you Jesus! We love you! Praise Him!
