Wednesday, August 4, 2010 • Posted August 3, 2010

Blanco Middle School achieved a “Recognized” rating by the Texas Education Agency in performance results released last Friday. Also, for the second year in a row, Blanco ISD received a “Recognized” rating. Blanco High School and Blanco Elementary were rated “Acceptable.”

Each year, TEA designates both campuses and school districts with performance ratings based upon students’ performance on the TAKS test, attendance, and dropout rates.

Middle School principal Jesse Salazar had this to say about the school’s performance rating, “I would like to congratulate all our students, teachers and staff for their hard work and commitment in making Blanco Middle School a TEA Recognized campus. In addition I’d also like to thank the parents. This success would not be possible without the support of parents and the community in making this accomplishment happen. Blanco Middle School will continue on its goal to achieve unprecedented excellence for all students as we enter this upcoming school year.”

High School principal Dustin Barton said, “The 2010 TAKS scores for BHS show gains in performance. These gains in performance are the result of the extra efforts of the teachers and staff at BHS to improve student performance. BHS observed increases in science scores across the board.”

“I am very pleased with the effort made by students and their corresponding results on the TAKS test. Of the 16 categories measured for TAKS test performance BHS made improvements in 14 compared to the previous year’s results. For the 2010-2011 school year BHS will continue to improve student performance by addressing areas for improvement by utilizing C-Scope curriculum, a structured support system, student incentive programs, mentoring programs, TAKS remediation classes, and a comprehensive teacher professional development program.”

Sue Ann Reininger, elementary principal, said “We are proud of all the hard work that was put forth at Blanco Elementary School during the 2009-2010 school year. The students and staff did an amazing job studying, staying after school and working with parents in an effort to do their best on the TAKS test.”

“The BES team will continue to work toward insuring that each and every student succeeds to the best of his or her ability. We are looking forward to the upcoming 2010-2011 school year and set excellence as our goal!”

Dr. Buck Ford, Superintendent of Schools, had this to say about the district’s performance, “We are proud of Blanco ISD’s educational program. These ratings represent a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication. They demonstrate our commitment to excellence.”

“I want to congratulate and thank everyone who was a part of this—our administration, faculty, staff, and support personnel. I also want to congratulate and thank our students and parents for their contribution to this accomplishment. I also want to thank the various community members and organizations who have supported our program in various ways. Finally, I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their continual support.”
