After nearly three months of summer, Blanco ISD and area schools will head back to class on Monday, August 23.
Teachers started back this week, preparing classrooms and attending inservice workshops in anticipation of the 2010-11 school year.
On Friday, August 20, the Elementary will post class assignments, and that evening will host a Meet the Teacher night from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Students and parents are invited to visit their new classrooms and bring in supplies at that time as well. The PTO is also planning a meeting during the Open House.
New student registration will continue at all campuses this week.
With the start of school, drivers can expect to see more kids walking and riding bikes to school, so caution while driving through neighborhoods and especially within school zones is greatly encouraged. The Blanco Police Department will once again be monitoring school zones to ensure that drivers maintain safe driving speeds and obey all traffic laws. As a reminder, cell phone use is prohibited in school zones unless a hands-free device is used. This includes talking, texting and updating Facebook while picking up or dropping off your kids at school.
On Thursday, August 19, the Blanco Panther football team will make their debut at Panther Stadium with a scrimmage against Mason at 6:00. The game is free, but donations of clothes detergent are greatly appreciated.
See pages B7 and B8 for a list of school supplies for Blanco Elementary and Middle School as well as the District Calendar for this school year.
