Band Booster to Meet Thursday

The first meeting of the Blanco Band Boosters Club will be Thursday, September 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. in the Band Hall.
Plans and goals for the coming year will be discussed. All parents of new students and those of former and students are urged to come, get to know each other, and make plans for promoting out Sweepstakes Band.
PTA To Meet Thursday

The first meeting of the Blanco Parent Teacher Association will be held Thursday, September 3rdat 7:45 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Guest speakers for the evening will be W.B. Tate, Patrolman with Safety Education Service, Department of Public Safety.
There also will be the recognition of superintendent, principals, faculty, school board members and other school personnel.
All parents, especially members having children in the 1st grade, are invited to attend.
Chanters to hold Song Fest Sunday

The Blanco Community is cordially invited to attend a song fest of spirituals, devotionals, popular, westerns and barber shop type songs by the Ben Hur Shine Chanters of Austin and the Alzafar Shrine Chanters of San Antonio.
The song fest will be at the Blanco State Park House on Sunday afternoon, August 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Robert Fox Receives High School Diploma
August 25, 1961
Robert Glenn Fox, having completed in a satisfactory manner the regular course of study prescribed for the High School Department of the Blanco High School, was awarded his high school diploma by order of the Board of Education at the regular Blanco School Board Meeting held August 14, 1961.
Robert received the heartfelt congratulations of Superintendent John E. Donaldson, Principal Joe Smitherman and the Blanco school Board.
Blanco to scrimmage
August 1980
Blanco High School varsity will face the Harper varsity in a preseason scrimmage Friday at the Blanco school stadium.
The scrimmage will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to last a couple of hours.
The varsity squad will enter its first game of the season September 5th at 8:00p.m. at Liberty Hill.
Junior varsity will play Liberty Hill here September 5th beginning at 7:30 p.m. while the freshman squad will meet Marion September 11th at 6:00p.m. on the Marion school campus.
Our Servicemen

Army Private Larry J. Liesmann, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy B. Liesmann of Blanco, received the Determination Award July 17th upon graduation from eight weeks of basic training at Ft. Lewis, Washington.
The award was given to the trainee of the cycle who shows the most determination to improve in all categories of training.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl R. Poenisch are the proud parents of an 8 pound, 4 ½ ounce baby girl, Cherell Elaine, born August 22 in Keidel Memorial Hospital and Clinic in Fredericksburg.
Grandparents are Mrs. Carl H. Poenisch and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon E. Schmidt.
Shower honors Renee Mayfield

A miscellaneous shower honored Renee Mayfield, bride elect of Ricky Guthrie, in the Gould home Tuesday August 19th at 8:00 p.m. A picture frame cake and punch was served.
Hostesses were Sandy Possey, Billie Crider, Kristy Gould, Ellen Felps, Patsy Lewis, Joyce Colman, Gladys Martin, Molene Lorenz and Prebbie Crossley.
Corsages of blue and yellow daises were presented to Renee and her mother, Mrs. Joel Mayfield.
