The Blanco Panthers met up with the Mason Punchers at Panther Stadium on Thursday, August 19 in a pre-season scrimmage that allowed both teams to prepare for the new season. The Panthers came out strong in their debut at Panther Stadium, with a strong defense and a talented offense. Season play begins this Friday, August 27 when the Panthers welcome the Canyon Lake Hawks to Panther Stadium.

The Panthers faced the Hawks last year in the season opener, giving the Panthers their only loss of the season (21-14) until the Playoffs. Canyon Lake is listed as 3A with fourteen returning lettermen, including leading tackler, LB Bobby Flint who led the team with 134 tackles last season. Other returning players to watch include RB Zach Henshaw, QB Jeff Nabors, DT J. Garrett Grooms and DT Chris Kopecky. They are led by Coach Matt Monzingo.

The Panthers will once again be 2A, with Coach Danny Rogers starting his ninth year as Athletic Director for the Panthers. The team lost twelve lettermen, but will see 11 return, including TE Travis McClinton, WB Kyle Garrow, LB Ethan Evans and HB Gavin Garrow. Tanner Rogers, QB, who threw for 1300 yards and 18 TDs last season is also returning. The Panthers are ranked first in District 13-2A.
