Roger Gilbert Zercher

Roger was born in San Antonio on December 31, 1930 and passed away in Blanco on September 20, 2010, at the age of 79. Roger was proceeded in death by his parents G.W. Zercher and Paula Scheel Zercher. He is survived by his sister LaVerne Piehl and husband Jack of Kingwood, TX, and his brother Leroy “Buddy” Zercher and wife Doris of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by 3 children, Clara Gourley, Sue Doyer and husband Randolph, and Wayne Zercher and wife Teri. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Craig, Lisa, Randolph and wife Stefanie, Raoger and wife Jessica, Paula and husband Jason, Robert, Clayton and wife Sara, Shane, and Bethany and husband Adam, 2 great-grandsons Hayden and Colt, his aunt Alvina Hilbert of Seguin and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Roger was a Dairyman for 40 years; he was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer Award in Area VII in 1965. He was a active member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1962 and served on the church council. He also served on the board of LCRA for 12 years, the Blanco EMS, and Blanco ISD school board. Roger enjoyed being with family and friends, wood working, and animals. His cows and his Brahman steer “Bud” were his pets. He was a man who touched many lives and through those lives he will be remembered and missed.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blanco, with burial to follow in the Blanco Cemetery.
