Johnson City’s Methodist Church Welcomes New Pastor

The First United Methodist Church of Johnson City welcomes Pastor Sid Spiller as their new pastor on June 15, 2008.

Pastor Sid is currently the pastor at the First United Methodist Church of Mathis, Texas. He is in his 34th year as a minister. Pastor Sid has undergraduate degrees in Business, Economics and Education.

Prior to entering SMU where he received a Masters of Theology, Pastor Sid taught high school business. He is also certified as a hospital chaplain.

Pastor Sid and his wife, Marge, have two grown children and four grandchildren. Marge is currently a fourth grade reading specialist in Ingram, Texas.

Pastor Judy Baskin, who has been the pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Johnson City since June, 2006, will be entering a one-year sabbatical on June 1.

A reception honoring Pastor Judy and Bud will be held Sunday morning, May 25, at 9:40 at the First United Methodist Church.
