The 7th Grade Panthers made the long road trip to Sonora worth their while. With over a week to get prepared, the young Panthers had themselves a field day with the Sonora [Colts]. Blanco’s offense rushed for over 225 yards, threw three completions for 18 yards, and one kick-off return for 25 yards. The Panther’s defense only allowed 85 yards of total offense.

The Sonora Colts brought the opening kick-off back to their own 47-yard line. The Colts stumbled down to Blanco’s 36 before they turned the ball over on downs. Blanco’s offense started with Adrian Dominguez carrying the ball three straight times. Dominguez’s third run was good for 35 yards and Blanco’s first touchdown. Quarterback Jordan Wagner connected with wingback Jared Mayfield for the PAT, putting Blanco out front 7-0.

Sonora started at their 25 after the ensuing kick-off; however, it was only three plays later when linebacker Eddie Torres recovered a Sonora fumble on Sonora’s 28. Blanco’s offense was back, this time with a different group of players; however, it took only one play when QB Jessie Ferrell pitched to running back Dustin Parmely running around the right side for 28 yards and Blanco’s second touchdown. Parmely ran the same play to secure the PAT, extending Blanco’s lead, 14-0.

On the next kick-off, Blanco caught their opponents off guard with an onside kick Blanco recovered on Sonora’s 48-yard line. On the first play, running back Chase Horton ran the ball around the right end for 39 yards down to Sonora’s 10-yard line. Two plays later, Horton ran around the right side four yards for another Blanco touchdown. The PAT failed, bringing the score 20-0 for Blanco.

After the kick-off, Blanco’s defense allowed a quick return for Blanco’s offense. Two plays later, Blanco ran a reverse with running back Eddie Torres sprinting around the left side 30 yards for Blanco’s fourth touchdown in the first half. The PAT failed, putting the Panthers out front 26-0 going into the half.

Blanco received the ensuing kick-off in the second half and started at the Sonora 46. With the combination of three runs by running back Ryan Ronces and two completions from quarterback Trent Dechert to running back Jessie Ferrell, the Panthers marched down to Sonora’s 14-yard line. Then, running back Jessie Ferrell sprinted around the right side for Blanco’s fifth (and final) touchdown of the day. Parmely added the PAT. Blanco put in some new defensive players to stall Sonora’s last drive. Blanco’s offense took over on downs and ran out the clock with the final score 34-0.
