Spring Branch Tennis Center
Wednesday, May 21, 2008 • Posted May 20, 2008

I would like to introduce the Spring Branch Tennis Center to our community. This is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make tennis more accessible to our community.

The youth and adults in our area need a place to play and socialize for all ages and abilities. There are currently no public tennis facilities in or around our community.

The Spring Branch Tennis Center will consist of 12 USTA approved tennis court’s and a clubhouse. With the proposed facility there would be enough courts to offer all levels of leagues, lessons, clinics, tournaments and youth programs consisting of after school programs, and summer camps. The Spring Branch Tennis Center will service the counties of Comal, Blanco, Kendall and Northern Bexar.

During this spring semester we offered Quickstart (a beginner tennis program for ages 5-10) at Blanco Elementary where we had a blast teaching the children a sport that will last them a lifetime. Arrangements are currently being made to offer Quickstart in the fall at 4 of the Comal elementary schools. This summer we are offering the USTA Junior Team Tennis program at Smithson Valley High School, Canyon Lake High School, Blanco Elem., and Wimberley Middle School. This is a program for 18 and under, both middle school and high school students are welcome. You can choose the location/team that is easiest for you to access. This program is not instructional it is specifically match time for those players. This is a great opportunity to perfect their tournament skills and get ready for next school years tennis season. For more information regarding our programs you can call 830-885-2833 or email tennis@gvtc.com or go to www.springbranchtenniscenter.com

Spring Branch Tennis Center has recently been awarded by the Comal County Parks Department 1.8 acres at the Jumbo Evans Sports Park on Highway 281 in Spring Branch, Texas. Comal County has awarded us the land but we must secure the funds to construct and maintain the facility and its programs. In an effort to begin raising the funds for this fantastic facility we are holding the First Annual Spring Branch Tennis Center Block Party on Saturday, June 28, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There will be several tennis activities for both youth and adults as well as balloon bounce, dunking booth, game booths, food booths a silent auction and a raffle, “Win A Day With The Pros,” which includes 4 of the areas finest tennis professionals will drill/instruct, have lunch and then play a set with the winners. We believe that with such a fun day planned we should be well on our way to court construction in no time. Come on out and join us for the fun.

Those of you who can afford to do a little bit more Spring Branch Tennis Center is more than willing to advertise and display your generosity at the center. The location of the center allows for a lot of advertising exposure. The facility is located right in the center of the park surrounded by Bulverde Youth Soccer Club, Bulverde Little League, and Spring Branch Football Association. This offers a donor the opportunity to be visible to the entire park with signage on a court or even all courts. For more information on donations you can contact Erinn Murray President SBTC at 830-885-2833or visit our website at www.springbranchtennis.com .
