The Panthers’ season ended last weekend in Brownwood with them losing to Grape Creek in a two out of three series.

The first game was played in Fredericksburg on Thursday, May 15. Blanco lost 6-3.

Ross McCormick started on the mound for the Panthers and went seven strong innings, striking out 10 and scattering five hits.

The Blanco bats went quiet as they managed only five hits on the night.

McCormick led the way, going two for three. Lance Gottardy, Shane Klein, and Chantell Young all had singles.

In game two at Howard Payne University, the Panthers unleashed a 17-hit attack and scored 22 runs to defeat Grape Creek 22-3.

Justin Warner started and went five innings, striking out five and scattering four hits.

Blanco was led offensively by Lance Gottardy, who went four for four with three RBI’s. Ross McCormick was three for four with four RBI’s and a 400 plus blast.

Kevin Gray, Justin Warner, Shane Klein, and Chantell Young all had two hits. John Pepper was one for three with a three-run home run.

In the deciding game three, Justin Warner took the bump and gave an outstanding effort. After going five innings in game two, Warner got the nod for game three and went three hitless innings before Grape Creek mounted an attack and never looked back.

The Blanco bats were nowhere to be found. The crafty left-hander from Grape Creek tossed a one hitter and struck out five Panthers winning 10-0 after five innings.

The Panthers ended their season with a 24-11 overall record.
