“Art Quilt” Exhibit in Blanco Gallery
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 • Posted October 5, 2010

Then and Now, the Contemporary and Traditional Quilts of Pam Lowe opened October 1 at the Uptown Blanco Art Center Gallery and runs through October 31. The opening reception was Friday, October 1. Pam Lowe, who began as a self-taught traditional quilter years ago, also creates ‘Art Quilts’-exciting and contemporary quilts/designs inspired by nature. Her latest works utilize hand dyed fabrics and dense cotton stitching, with exquisite color variation. Since her return from a trip to Oaxaca and Chiapas, she has been influenced by the many indigenous textile and craft workers from this region of Mexico, and these concepts are seen in her recent work. Pam’s ‘Art Quilts’ and traditional quilts will be exhibited and for sale in the Art Center gallery. Her work is widely collected.

Joseph Walsh’s Northern Exposure photography show opening reception on September 10 was well received and attended.

The Uptown Blanco Art Center gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm or by appointment. For more information, call 830-833-2514 or email artcenter@uptownblanco.com.
