Repair Work Cuts Water Service
Wednesday, October 13, 2010 • Posted October 12, 2010

Homeowners in the Garden Oaks area of Blanco found themselves without water on Monday, October 11, while Blanco City Utilities crews worked on a water line leak near Oakridge and 7th streets.

Director of Utilities Nathan Cantrell said that the line, located in a backyard, began leaking a week ago and his employees have been working with jackhammers for two days to remove the concrete encasing the pipe.

The water was disconnected for seven hours while crews worked in a five foot deep hole, working through lunch to fix the problem so water service could be restored. The work was finished around 6pm and Cantrell stayed until 8pm flushing the water line and waiting for any calls to come in.

As of press time, the city was still flushing the lines and working to clean up the backyard where the work was done.
