American Legion Donates Flag to Old Courthouse

American Legion Memorial Highway Post 352 of Blanco, Texas held a ceremony to donate an American Flag to the Old Blanco County Courthouse. The flag was given to the Post by Legionaire and Post member Mrs. Lura Vanzant, to be donated in her late husbands Mr. James Vanzant's memory. Those present were Mrs. Vanzant, her daughter Unit 352 Chaplain Randi Weeks and her husband Post 352 Commander Teddy Weeks, her sons Rick Green and Barry Vanzant. Lura, her husband James, and their two sons served in the military and Mrs. Weeks son is currently serving in the United States Army.

On hand to receive the flag were board members Jeff Harkinson, Jan Brieger, Candi Cane and Lesley Griffin and her daughter.

Post and Unit members present were First Vice Commander Tom Avants, Unit President Roxanna Avants, Past commander Bruce Huguelet and Unit Vice President Christine Huguelet and visiting Legionaire Jimmy Jacks. The flag was raised at the ceremony and now flies majestically over the courthouse.
