Lady Panthers Grab Double District Wins

After a disappointing loss to Harper on October 1, the Lady Panthers placed themselves in a must-win district match-up against the Comfort Deer on Tuesday, October 5. Playing with grit and tenacity, the team battled for the win in a long five game match.

The Panthers pounced on the Deer, taking the first two games, 25-18 and 25-23. The momentum shifted for the next two games with Comfort winning 21-25 and 22-25. The Panthers rallied for the vistory in the fifth game, 15-8. Statistical leaders for the Panthers were Tara Tredaway, making 38 assists and 4 aces, Abbey Weaver Weaver hitting 22 kills and 4 blocks, and Alex Gustafson adding 16 digs.

The team then traveled to Ingram to battle a strong Lady Warrior squad. The Panthers were in control of the match from the start, trouncing the Warriors in three games. Abbey Weaver slammed 16 kills with Tara Tredaway providing 32 assists. Alex Gustafson scored 4 aces and Lindsey Jenkins made 15 digs. Kayla Martinez led the team with 5 blocks.

These two victories give the Panthers a 3-1 district record and placed the team back in the race for the play-offs.
