Howarton Named NTLC Director
Wednesday, October 20, 2010 • Posted October 19, 2010

Dr. Renee D. Howarton-Wikrent, daughter of Rebecca Howerton, was recently appointed to serve as Director of the Nakatani Teaching and Learning Center (NTLC) at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She is replacing Dan Riordan who retired this summer. Dan’s efforts were instrumental in laying a solid foundation for the center and developing activities to promote faculty scholarship and excellence in teaching.

He leaves a rich legacy that Renee will build upon and expand. With 26 years of university teaching, research and service experience, Renee is excited to apply her academic experience, passion for education, and personal resourcefulness and creativity to promote NTLC goals.

As one of her first tasks, Renee facilitated the three-day New Instructor Workshop. Thirty-six faculty members actively participated, learning more about available university resources, interacting with UW-Stout faculty, and being introduced to D2L.

Incorporating the skills of many, Renee will continue to promote a variety of NTLC activities including Sharing Communities and Communities of Practice.
