8th Grade Panthers Roll to 6-0 Record
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 • Posted October 26, 2010

The Comfort Bobcats proved to be no match for the Panthers in game six. Blanco received the opening kick-off and marched easily down the field, with Carson Kipp scoring the first TD on a 3-yard run. Aikman Elrod passed to Devlin Moore for the PAT, making the score 8-0. The Panther ‘D’ forced a turnover on downs in Comfort territory, and Kipp threw a 36-yard halfback pass to McKay Adamson down to the Bobcat 2 yard line. Elrod dashed around the left side on a keeper, putting Blanco up 14-0. Hunter Goodman, Andrew Burgess, and Grant Calzoncit recorded tackles for losses, and Alex Juarez intercepted the Bobcats just before halftime to end Comfort’s drive.

The Bobcats went backwards to start the third quarter, with Grant Calzoncit making a QB sack for an 8-yard loss, followed by Elrod’s QB sack for a 15-yard loss, forcing another Bobcat punt. The Panthers drove into Bobcat territory before the offense sputtered and gave Comfort the ball over on downs. The Bobcats were able to make one drive into Panther territory, but a huge QB sack for a 10-yard loss by Andrew Burgess killed the scoring threat, and gave Blanco possession at their 19 yard line. Great blocking by the O-line gave Carson Kipp a seam off the right side, and two jukes later Kipp was gone for an 81-yard TD run. Kyle Gray kicked a perfect PAT, giving Blanco a 21-0 lead in the fourth quarter. Jack Morgan made two tackles, followed by a tackle by Gray, on the next Bobcat series. Comfort was able to punch in a score late in the game, but the on-side kick was recovered by Ty (Good Hands) Royce, and the 8th grade left Comfort victorious with the score at 21-7. Carson Kipp again led the Panthers offensive showing, gaining 137 yards on only 12 carries.

The Panthers may face their stiffest challenge this Thursday against the Vikings at Lago Vista.
