Band Earns Superior Rating
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 • Posted October 26, 2010

The Blanco High School Panther Band competed at the UIL Region 12 Marching Contest at the East Central ISD stadium in San Antonio on October 18. The Panther Band presented this year’s competition program, which included swing hits, both old and new.

After the Panther Band’s presentation, all three UIL judges assigned the Panther band the highest mark, a first division superior rating. All three judges commented on the Panther Band’s very musical performance on such a demanding musical program that required them to learn how to swing the music.

This is the eighth consecutive Region Marching championship for the Panther Band.

This year is the off year for the Panther Band as UIL only allows competition for the state championship every other year so the Panther Band will have to wait until next year to compete in state competition.

The Panther Band will continue working the rest of the year towards the prestigious Sweepstakes award from the UIL in the spring.

Congratulations to Blanco High School and the students of the Blanco Panther Band for earning this top honor.
