Piano students to perform on Thursday

The piano students of Mrs. Dorsey L. Smith will present their recital on Thursday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Blanco Baptist Church.
Students participating will be Amy Gourley, Julie West, Vicky and Michael Vause, Michelle Wagner, Sandra Jones, Laurie Flugrath, Marilyn and Carolyn Dechert, Dana Reba, May Kay Weaner, Kennan Moore and Lori Werich.
The public is invited to attend.
Church of Christ Slates Bible School

The Church of Christ will conduct Vacation Bible School May 27-31, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (Same week for the last ten years) The theme this year is “My God and I.”
The teachers will be: Pre-school Lenona Felps; Ages 5-6, Lucy Morgan, Grades 2 and 3; Sylvia Moore, Grades 8 through 12, Bomer Gist and Ladies Class, Maurine Gist.
A hearty welcome is extended to all.
Smith, Hostetler lead ‘78 Blanco graduates

Combined commencement and baccalaureate services will be held Friday, May 26 at Panther Stadium, for 41 graduating seniors.
Robert Rankin Smith will give the Valedictorian Address. He is the son of Mr. And Mrs. Nim Smith.
Laura Bain Hostetler will give the Salutatorian Address. She is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Jerry Hostetler.
James Perkins will deliver the invocation and Holly Shipp the Benediction.
Father Lonnie Urban will give the baccalaureate semonette.
The Class History will be given by Lynda Cox. Charles Jones will give the class speech. Larry Kuentz will give the acceptance of diplomas speech.
Local Girl Gets Engraved Plaque
May 24, 1968
Dixie Posey, freshman at Southwest Texas State College, was recently named most outstanding pledge at the Chi Omega sorority. Dhe was awarded an engraved plaque at the annual banquet and was also cited for this honor at the Penhellenic Banquet. She has also recently been selected for Butler Hall for the 1968-1969 term.
Stewardship workshop held

The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas held a Stewardship workshop from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 1988 at St. Stepohen’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio.
The workshop was conducted by the Rev. Edward R. Rich, Rector, Christ Epsicpal Church, Springfield, Ohio.
The Rev. Rich is a highly noted speaker and author throughout the United States on Christian Stewardship. His lectures and writings are very enlightening and helpful on the need for and practicing Christian stewardship of our treasures, time and talents.
Attending the workshop from Blanco’s St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church were Mrs. Leonard Murphy and Mr. And Mrs. Bennett Blake.
St. Michael’s Sunday Services and Sunday School are at 11 o’clock a.m. at 218 Pittsburg Street. Visitors are always most welcome.

Joseph A. Draughton, 21, son of Mrs. Dolores Draughton of Blanco, was promoted to Army Specialist five during ceremonies in Germany, April 11.
Spec. Drauguhon, an administrative specialist in the Office of the Inspector General, Headquarters, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, entered the Army in March 19866 and was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. Before arriving overseas in August 1967.
The specialist is a 1965 of Edcouch-Elsa High School.
