Blanco Alumni to Play Wimberley
Wednesday, November 3, 2010 • Posted November 2, 2010

Texas Alumni Football has suited up over 3,000 former Texas high school football players this year organizing a Blanco vs. Wimberley alumni football game to take place over the weekend of January 7 to 9. Former Blanco high school football players will have a chance to play a full contact game with former teammates.

Class of 2000 Blanco Alumni Charles Brenner is looking forward to putting on the pads again. “I really thought I’d never have the chance to play football again; I’m really looking forward to this!” say Brenner.

“You don’t just play pickup games of full contact football when you graduate. Football is the biggest thing in the world in high school and then it’s taken away from you forever,” says Tim Bishop, Director of Texas Alumni Football.

Fans often come out in droves to watch their former gridiron stars. “Several Texas towns say that the biggest crowd they ever had was for the alumni game,” says Bishop.

The games can also be a great fundraiser. “We raised over $3,000 for our Project Graduation through the alumni games and it was an overall very positive event for our community,” said Larry Lee, Crane Schools ISD Superintendent.

The alumni team registration deadline is Thursday, November 4, for the Austin area teams. Former Blanco players can call Blanco alumni Charles Brenner at 956-789-0071 and sign up at www.AlumniFootballUSA.com or call Tim Bishop at 512-771-5561. Also, on www.AlumniFootballUSA.com, fans and players can link to individual team Facebook pages to discuss and reminisce about rivalries, players, games and other high school memories.
