If you haven’t visited Gem of the Hills recently, you probably haven’t seen the updated Gym at the Gem. With fun colors, new cardio machines and a functional training room, the center now has something for everyone. Not only can you join the gym, but you can also take advantage of an expanding calendar of health and fitness classes. On November 17, from 6:00 to 8:00, get hints and tools to avoid that 10-pound holiday weight gain. If that doesn’t work for you, January will bring a weight management series. There was recently a kickboxing series on Wednesday evenings, and “step” classes will start soon.
For seniors, there is an exercise group that meets every Tuesday and Friday morning at 8:30am. Clinics on balance, fit ball exercises, strength and outdoor circuit training on the Gem of the Hills trail will be offered in the near future. If your group has a special interest in something or special needs, just ask, and the center will do its best to offer a program for you.
Not sure what you need? If you become a member of Gym at the Gem, Connie Barron, a certified personal trainer and R.N., will meet with you to help you develop an exercise program to meet your needs.
