Wednesday, November 3, 2010 • Posted November 2, 2010

The 7th Grade Panthers running game exploded at Lago Vista Stadium this past week as they were handed their 6th straight victory. Blanco piled up 300 yards of offense. This does not include the kickoff returns… there was only one! The defense played as tough as usual, allowing only 80 yards and just 3 first downs.

Lago Vista won the toss but elected to kick off to Blanco. Blanco’s offense started at their 35 yard line. On their opening play, running back Adrien Dominguez ran around the left for 25 yards, then two plays later Dominguez ran around the right side for 40 yards, to score the Panthers’ first TD, Chase Horton ran in the PAT, and Blanco goes up 8-0. Lago Vista started on their 45 after the kickoff. Panthers’ defense gave up one 1st down but crushing defensive plays from Jordan Wagner and Dustin Parmely forced Lago Vista to punt. Blanco took over and, on the first play, Adrien Dominguez ran around the left side 71 yards for Blanco’s second TD, Chase Horton ran in the PAT, and Blanco extended their lead to 16-0. Blanco kicked off and put the Vikings back at their 18 yard line. Lago Vista came out passing on their first play; however, safety Jordan Wagner intercepted the pass and ran it back for Blanco’s third TD. Dustin Parmely ran in the PAT, putting Blanco out front 24-0. The Vikings started at their 39 after the Panthers’ kick-off. The Vikings made it as far as the Panthers’ 41, but eventually turned the ball over on downs. Blanco took over on their 41 with little time left in the half and ran a few plays to run out the clock, going into the half leading 24-0.

The second half started with Lago Vista receiving the kickoff and starting at their 46. Blanco’s defense played tough and forced the Vikings to punt. The Vikings’ punt put the Panthers all the way back to their 4 yard line. After a big gain from Chase Horton was called back because of an infraction, the Panthers came back with a reverse run by Eddie Torres for 96 yards and Blanco’s 4th TD, PAT no good, but Blanco up 30-0. Blanco kicked off and the Vikings’ offense started at Blanco’s 47, but Blanco’s defense held and took over on downs on their 41 yard line. On their first play, Ryan Ronces ran off tackle to the right side (41 yards) for Blanco’s fifth TD, PAT no good, and Blanco up 36-0. The Vikings took over after the Panthers’ kickoff and were able to move down to the Panthers’ 25 yard line, but the second half expired. The Panthers win 36-0! Panthers will host Luling next for their last game of the year.

Blanco and Luling have the same 4-0 district records. This will be the championship game for the 7th grade, so come on out and show your Panther Pride!
