Veterans Remembered at Peyton Colony
Wednesday, November 10, 2010 • Posted November 9, 2010

This past Saturday, November 7, 2010, some members of the Jones family and Covin family met with Bruce Huguelet and Ted Weeks, members of the American Legion at the Peyton Colony Cemetery, on FM 165, in Blanco, Texas, to place American flags on the gravesites of military personnel who have gone home to our Lord.

Those who came to place the flags were Janice Soria, Mary Joyce “Candy” Jones Campbell and son Justin Campbell, Catherine “Lucille” Jones Hartman, Diane Covin Haley, and Karen Gayle Covin Cox and son Dawson Cox.

Military service men (that we know of) who were buried at Peyton Colony Cemetery are: Ben Richardson, Jack Richardson, Philbert Richardson, George Murray Jackson, Emil Jones, Jr., and David Gayle Covin.

We will never forget them, and always appreciate their service for our freedom. We don’t tell our veterans often enough, that we appreciate the sacrifices they made for our country. We should never forget, and also never let them die in vain. I pray that we never lose our freedoms (any of them). Let’s not allow any of our freedoms to be lost!

If you know of any veteran graves in Blanco County that do not reflect they are a veteran, please contact Ted Weeks, Commander of The American Legion Memorial Highway Post 352. We would like to add them to our list and honor them with a flag each year at this time. His telephone number is 830-228-4556. His email is txlegionpost352 @yahoo.com.
