Senior Blanco FFA member Jared Newby has been awarded a $1,000 Tarleton State University Agricultural Scholarship for the upcoming fall semester. Jared will be attending Tarleton and majoring in Agricultural Services and Development. As a member of the Blanco FFA, Jared qualified for this scholarship after Blanco ranked 1st in two different contests at this year’s TSU Invitational Career Development Events, in addition to also placing third overall in the sweepstakes rankings.

Jared competed on several area and state qualifying leadership and judging teams this year, and was a vital part of the national qualifying range team which placed 10th overall at the National Range Judging Contest in Oklahoma. Jared is the son of Terry and Lisa Newby.
