Air Show Celebrates U.S. Air Force’s 60th Anniversary

Randolph Air Force Base is opening its gates to the general public Nov. 3-4 to showcase the many aircraft that have contributed to 60 years of air superiority for the U.S. Air Force during its 2007 Randolph Air Show, entitled a “Tribute to Training.”

Highlights of this year’s free show include the Air Force’s mighty F-15E Strike Eagle, A-10 Thunderbolt and C-17 Globemaster. Other attractions include the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team and the Smoke-n-Thunder Jet Car show.

Aviation enthusiasts can also get an up close look at some of airframes serving on the frontlines of the War on Terrorism as well as some of the Air Force’s newest technologies, including the F-22 Raptor, F-117 Nighthawk and B-52 Stratofortress.

Ground highlights include interactive military displays, a children’s area with various rides and activities, military working dog demonstration, informational booths and more than 40 food and merchandise vendors.

Gates open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. both days, with aerial performances scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.
