Football Season Ends for Panthers
Wednesday, November 17, 2010 • Posted November 16, 2010

The third time was the charm for the Industrial Cobras as they avenged two previous defeats in the play-offs at the hands of the Panthers, ending Blanco’s season on a stormy night in Halletsville by the score of 14 to 6. Although Blanco moved the ball effectively at times, 5 costly turnovers proved to be too much for the Panthers to overcome.

The opening quarter of play saw Blanco take their only lead of the night on a strong run by QB Tanner Rogers. However, a missed PAT left the Panthers with just a 6 to 0 lead. It wouldn’t be until midway through the second quarter that Industrial answered with a TD and successful extra point to take a 7 to 6 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The score remained 7 to 6 until late in the fourth quarter when Industrial added a final score with just over 2 minutes remaining. The Panthers got one final chance to hopefully tie the game with time running out. However, their fifth turnover sealed the Panthers’ fate and closed out their season.

With the loss, Blanco ends the year with an overall record of 5 and 6 while Industrial improves to 8 and 3, advancing to face Taft in the area round of the play-offs this week in Sinton on Friday night.
