Summer Reading Kicks Off at The Blanco Library
Wednesday, June 4, 2008 • Posted June 3, 2008

Christine Bailey, the children's librarian at the Blanco Library spent 2 days during the last weeks of school in the elementary school library talking to kids about the upcoming summer reading program. She brought pictures of the Ringling Bros. clown, Bonzo Crunch, who will make an appearance at the Blanco Library on July 1st at 10 am, and talked to the kids about the importance of reading over the summer.

She also went to the middle school to tell them about the teen programs that are planned and brought a few of the newest young adult books from the Blanco library and gave "booktalks" to all of the students who came through the library. The students were enthusiastic about the books Mrs. Bailey brought and are excited to get to the library to check them out themselves!

If your youngster doesn't have a library card yet, now is the time to sign them up so they'll be ready for the summer reading program!

Also, any child between the ages of 2-12 who reads (or is read to) 5 books will earn a FREE ticket to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus!! Anyone between the ages of 5-17 must have a parent accompany them to the library to get a library card. Contact The Blanco Library:833-4280.
