The Lights Spectacular 5K is returning for a second year. The run, hosted by First Christian Church of Johnson City, will be held on Saturday, November 27, at 3:00 pm during the Lights Spectacular opening weekend. All of the proceeds from the run will be used to fund local community organizations or to help individuals with utility bills, rent, food or any other emergency need they may have. Further, a portion of the proceeds may go toward non-local area organizations if a need arises.
Last year, 120 racers participated in the first annual Lights Spectacular 5K. Afterwards, racers and their families enjoyed the lights and festivities of Lights Spectacular. Local businesses, restaurants, and charity booths benefitted from the increased number of visitors the race brought to Johnson City. The organizers are excited about this event and pleased that it has become an annual 5K.
First, second, and third place medals will be awarded for each age group and there will also be a drawing for door prizes.
Registration forms are available for anyone interested in participating in the run. Just shoot an e-mail to the address below, and a form will be sent to you, or go to the website at www.jcfirstchristian.org and register online. You can also register the day of the event.
